Von rauem Swing zum eigenen Stil, von Amerika über Portugal nach Deutschland
Beeinflusst vom traditionellen Jazz, spielen die drei Musiker: innen ohne Harmonieinstrument Jazz mit nicht zu bändigender Neugier, explodierendem Metrum und nostalgischer Sehnsucht, sodass sich neue Atmosphären und Träume auftun. Hierbei erklingen Eigenkompositionen, die vom Jazz von Charles Mingus, Ornette Coleman, Thelonious Monk sowie der traditionellen Musik Portugals angestoßen wurden und sich weiterentwickelt haben. Es geht dabei immer ums Ganze: um Aussagen, nicht um Eventualitäten, um Vollkommenheit, nicht um Partikularität. Dabei lebt die Musik vom wechselnden Einfluss der drei, sodass sich im dynamischen Prozess bei zeitweiliger Ekstase das klassische Schema von Solist und Begleitern teilweise auflöst. Beat und Groove des traditionellen Jazz werden durch den Solistensound aufgenommen und mit der Saudade Portugals angereichert, es entsteht eine eigene Klangästhetik aus Harmonie, Melancholie, Feuer und Überraschung.
From rough swing to their own style, from America via Portugal to Germany
Influenced by traditional jazz, the three musicians play jazz without a harmony instrument, with unbridled curiosity, exploding metre and nostalgic longing, opening up new atmospheres and dreams. The compositions are inspired by the jazz of Charles Mingus, Ornette Coleman, Thelonious Monk and the traditional music of Portugal and have developed further. It is always about the whole: about statements, not contingencies, about perfection, not particularity. The music thrives on the changing influence of the three, so that in the dynamic process, the classical scheme of soloist and accompanists partially dissolves with occasional ecstasy. The beat and groove of traditional jazz are absorbed by the sound of the soloists and enriched with the saudade of Portugal, creating a unique sound aesthetic of harmony, melancholy, fire and surprise.
