„Larceny" ist ein Kollektiv, das von Schlagzeuger David Giesel 2021 gegründet wurde und 2023 ihr Debütalbum „Crosscurrent“ beim Berliner Label "XJAZZ!MUSIC“ veröffentlichte. Ihre Musik ist voller Einfühlungsvermögen, Melancholie und Überzeugung und verbindet eingängige Melodiebögen sowie moderne Harmonien mit ausladenden Gesten von Raum und Atem. Das Ergebnis ist eine Spannung zwischen kraftvollen und energiegeladenen sowie verträumten Momenten. Im Mittelpunkt steht die „Schönheit der Musik“ als Ideal und, sich stets authentisch auszudrücken. Das Album „Crosscurrent“ ist inspiriert von einer Reise auf die Färöer Inseln und erzählt vom Sein, Werden und Vergehen. Die Band hatte 2022 (damals noch unter einem anderen Bandnamen „iTsLarceny“) ihre erste EP unter dem Titel „Shapes“ veröffentlicht. Neben einigen Konzerten in ganz Deutschland, war „Larceny“ Teil des „Vertrarjazz“ Festivals auf den Färöer Inseln, der „Jazzahead Clubnight“ 2024 in Bremen sowie Teil des Export-Förderprogramms (Tour-Förderung) vom Land Baden- Württemberg (2023). Nach zwei weiteren Tourneen im Oktober 2024 und Februar 2025 präsentiert die Band nun die Musik von ihrem neuen Album auch in Berlin.
Larceny is a collective founded by drummer David Giesel in 2021, which released its debut album Crosscurrent on the Berlin label XJAZZ!MUSIC in 2023. Their music is full of empathy, melancholy and conviction, combining catchy melodies and modern harmonies with expansive gestures of space and breath. The result is a tension between powerful and energetic moments and dreamy ones. The focus is on the ‘beauty of music’ as an ideal and on always expressing oneself authentically. The album ‘Crosscurrent’ is inspired by a trip to the Faroe Islands and tells of being, becoming and passing away. The band released their first EP, entitled ‘Shapes’, in 2022 (at that time still under a different band name, ‘iTsLarceny’). In addition to several concerts throughout Germany, ‘Larceny’ was part of the “Vertrarjazz” festival in the Faroe Islands, the ‘Jazzahead Clubnight’ 2024 in Bremen and part of the export promotion programme (tour promotion) of the state of Baden-Württemberg (2023). After two further tours in October 2024 and February 2025, the band is now presenting the music from their new album in Berlin.
