Das Jako Quartett ist das neue Projekt des in Berlin lebenden griechischen Gitarristen Iakovos „Jako“ Symeonidis. Die Band spielt Eigenkompositionen von Symeonidis und Stücke aus seinem Debütalbum „Safe Place“, zusammen mit Songs aus der Jazztradition und Arrangements aus Funk und Soul. Im Mai 2025 nimmt die Band ein neues Album auf. Bei diesem Konzert wird Lionel Haas als Special Guest auftreten. Ziel der Band ist es, das Publikum durch die Kombination von Swing-, Afro- und Funk-Grooves bestmöglich zu begeistern. Ziel der Band ist es, ein neues Publikum für Jazzmusik zu begeistern und die Begeisterung für Improvisation, Spontaneität und Freiheit des Jazz zu teilen.
The Jako Quartet is the new project of Berlin-based Greek guitarist Iakovos 'Jako' Symeonidis. The band performs original compositions by Symeonidis and pieces from his debut album, 'Safe Place,' along with songs from the jazz tradition and arrangements from funk and soul.
The band is recording a new album in May 2025.For this concert Lionel Haas will play as a special guest. The band's goal is to engage the audience as best as possible by combining swing, Afro, and funk grooves.
Ultimately, the band seeks to attract a new audience to jazz music and
share the enthusiasm for improvisation, spontaneity, and freedom that jazz brings.
